Tune in March 23 to learn from third-generation dairy farmer Matt Bomgardner.
If you're looking for a way to ease the squeeze on your dairy margins, then click into a webinar March 23 from 1-2:30 p.m. The "Improving the Bottom Line through Integrating Grazing, in the Modern Family Dairy Event Overview" program will be hosted by Blue Mountain View farm owner and operator Matt Bomgardner. Joining the conversation will be Duane Hertzler, a longtime grazier and Mid-Atlantic Master Farmer from Perry County. Hertzler is a member of Bomgardner’s Dairy Profit team.
Join Bomgardner as he discusses the economics and logic behind various management decisions on his third-generation dairy farm in Lebanon County, Pa. Once a primarily confined operation, Bomgardner and his family have worked to incorporate more grazing into their management systems with the goal of creating a more resilient farm operation.
Bomgardner's operation has been working with a Dairy Profit team since 2011. The farm is currently in the process of obtaining organic certification.
During his presentation, Bomgardner will give a basic history and profile of the farm, followed by a discussion of labor efficiencies, production income vs. expenses, and herd genetics and grazing tactics, including maximizing stocking rates.
Webinar participants will be encouraged to ask their own questions and engage in a conversation about keeping farms secure and profitable, even in challenging times.
